Abstract
|
|
|
We analyzed the non-open heart surgery of cardiovascular disease from Jan. 1983 to Sep. 1992 at Sejong General Hospital.
Total cases of non-open heart surgery were 968 cases (16.2% of total cardiovascular surgery). All cases were congenital heart disease and among them 704 cases (72.7%) were PDA and 264 cases (27.3%) were simple and complex congenital heart disease
except
PDA.
There were 18 cases (1.9%) under the age of 12 month . 111 cases (11.5%) under the age of 6 month and 125 cases (12.0%) under the age of 12 month.
Cases with corrective surgery for simple congenital heart disease (PDA ligation/division and coarctoplasty of simple COA) were 729 cases (75.3%), palliative or staged operation for complex congenital heart disease (Blalock-Taussing shunt 144
cases
(14.9%), coarotoplasty for complex COA 26 cases (2.7%). Pulmonary artery banding 27 cases (2.8%).
The overall operative mortality was 3.2% (31 cases). The operative mortality of corrective surgery was 0.4% (3 cases) and palliative or staged operation was 12.6%(28 cases).
